J.Lo Says Diddy Apologized to A-Rod Over Thirsty Instagram Comment, Defends Motown Tribute

Jennifer Lopez says Diddy privately apologized to Alex Rodriguez after he left a thirsty comment on the singer's Instagram.

In a wide-ranging interview on Power 105.1 FM's The Breakfast Club" Wednesday morning, the "Dinero" singer spoke about everything from her recent engagement to the former MLB star (and some of the drama that followed) to the backlash she received from her Motown tribute at the 2019 Grammys.

One of the singer's sizzling Instagram photos back in January kicked off a social media storm . Lopez's ex-boyfriend Diddy (a.k.a Sean Combs) commented on the photo, writing "OMG" with a heart eyes emoji. Rodriguez also responded on his lady's sizzling pic with the comment, "Lucky me."

During the radio interview, Lopez was asked about Diddy's remark and explained how he apologized to her now fiance.

"Just so you guys know, he wrote Alex after that," Lopez said. "He was like 'I didn't mean anything by it. I have nothing but respect for you guys. I'm so happy for you guys.'"

"We were boyfriend and girlfriend when we were little," she added of her ex, who she dated nearly two decades ago. "I feel like that was such a long time ago. It was a different type of relationship...we were kids."

"The Breakfast Club" host Envy pointed out how Rodriguez "checked" Diddy with his response on the photo. Lopez said her husband-to-be "doesn't play. He's a crazy Dominican. He will...No. Do not disrespect that man."

Lopez also addressed the unfounded claims made by retired baseball player Jose Canseco, who accused A-Rod of cheating on Lopez with his ex-wife Jessica.

J.Lo, understandably, wasn't having it, and fired back when asked about the drama on the radio show. "I mean, it doesn't matter," she said. "I know what the truth is. I know who [Alex] is. He knows who I am. We're just happy."

"We're not gonna let other people come out and tell us what our relationship is," she added. "I know what our relationship is."

The "Shades of Blue" star also spoke about the backlash she received after she was chosen to headline the Motown tribute performance during the Grammys back in February.

The house that Barry Gordy built was home to soul, jazz and R&B, while J.Lo is a Latin-infused pop star; Charlamagne tha God asked Lopez if she regrets agreeing to perform the tribute.

"No, I think it was the right thing to do," Lopez said. "It's funny because it surprised me but at the same time it didn't and I was like 'Okay, so what do you do in this? Do you just back down and just let people who are bullying you online make you not do something that you were gonna do and that you want to do and you love?'"

J.Lo said her kids -- 11-year-old twins Max and Emme who she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony -- didn't understand why people were against her performing. The singer said for a "minute" she considered dropping out. However, she changed her mind after speaking to important Motown performers like Gordy, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder.

According to Lopez, they said, "Motown music was for everybody. We made music for everybody. And that you were inspired by that and that you know all of these songs."

The "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer didn't back down and she said her kids, for one, were thrilled. "We brought down the house that night," she said of the performance. "In the room, it was magic."
